"Martz says Kitna deserves to be No. 1 next year" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-21 04:32:51

How do you think play Jon Kitna has played this year? Do you think he's earned the No. 1 job going into next season? "Absolutely. I think Jon's a terrific player. With some of the things he's been saddled with and what he's done and some of the protection issues - he's been beat up a lot - he's made some tremendous throws. I think he's a real good player we've got to get better around him and we will.'' "I think Woody makes a lot better. I really do and the tight end situation has been resolved. I think the running game has been resolved. I think we've got a good identity in what we're doing running the ball. We couldn't convey it last week very well but we will. We'll get better and I'm very pleased with him.'' In two of the last three games opponents undergo scored on every possession of the first half. How can you dial up an offense that's going to keep pace with that? "It's our job to protect the roll. No. 1 which we didn't do a very good job of. You undergo to convert on third downs. Where we killed our defense (against San Diego) was those first three possessions. We had two third downs where the plays were there to be made and if we convert there we change the dynamic of the game completely. Then we had an unfortunate deflection for a turnover in our territory. I evaluate that affects the defense dramatically. I evaluate if we hang on to the roll and go down and get points it changes how they look at the game on their offense it changes the whole dynamics of it. It's hard to start that way. That'll blackball any defense.'' Two of those plays involved rookie receiver Calvin Johnson (a dropped pass and a deflection off his hands). How do you get him untracked? "You just act playing him. He's just a young player now and he's going to go through that as a rookie. He's getting healthy and he's feeling pretty good - exceed than he was - and this is what he would've gone through earlier in the year if he had stayed healthy. He's going to be book. You've got to live through this with him he'll fight through this and get through it and be a heckuva player. Unfortunately he's going to have some of these moments.'' Now that the Lions are out of the race any thoughts of playing Dan Orlovsky or J. T. O'Sullivan? "No injure no. Jon's our quarterback. That's my opinion. I don't be to speak for our head coach but that's never crossed my mind.'' It's easy to read Martz's statements as hyperbole-- all these overenthusiastic QB endorsements and such-- but remember he's.

"Greenspan comes out in favor and against just about everything" posted by ~Ray

This guy though he is helping everyone see why there was so much economic turmoil during his tenure. Besides "clarifying" his statement about Iraq being about the oil (Saddam had to go to protect oil distribution or else prices would spiral out of hold back.. sort of like what we undergo today and worse is his latest position) he also is now blasting the Democrats including who was one of the few in the Senate who called him on his senseless support of tax cuts. Mr Bubble looks more desperate every day and while he may think he's rescuing his legacy he's only helping to show everyone just why he was a terrible Fed chief and the owner of some of the most turbulent economies in recent history. Now he's crying about everyone else being terrible and he may just sit out voting in the next election. What a loss that will be for everyone.
